In 1998, a new quick-freeze
unit was constructed.
Curing was considerably enlarged and modernised.
A by-product treatment factory (fat-blood-hair…) was built.
A facility to incinerate sludge from pre-treatment effluents
was constructed in 1999 and also allows for dehydration
and transformation of sludge into compost.
Commercially some important dates were:
- 1983: COOPERL gets its first hypermarket client,
- 1985 : First consumer pack,
- 1986 : COOPERL is introduced for the first time to SIAL,
- 1989 : COOPERL markets its own products under its own brand:
CALIDEL
In February 1987, COOPERL diversified its activities by acquiring SA
LOGEAIS
in VITRE (Ille-et-Vilaine). This company specialises in animal feed production.
On 1 January 1989, SA LOGEAIS became a part of COOPERL and made up
the feed section. Activities in this sector have undergone remarkable progression
with production rising from 115,000 tonnes in 1987 to 176,000 tonnes in 1989,
and 347,000 tonnes in 1992.
To accommodate this increase in tonnage, construction work in 1989, 1990, 1993
and 1998 augmented the capacity of the factory in Vitré to more than 450,000
tonnes.
Today, the LOGEAIS factories in Vitré and Gorron, along with the new factory
in
PLESTAN, make up the feed department of COOPERL-HUNAUDAYE.
Other important dates in COOPERL’s recent history:
• With the acquisition on 1 September of OLLEVIER, factory in LAMBALLE
whose specialty was the manifacture of andouilles and andouillettes,
COOPERL was able to become acquainted with cured meat product preparation.
• In 1989, COOPERL merged with a group of producers "PORGALLO" located in
PLUDUNO (22) and "PONTIVY-PORCS'' located in PONTIVY (56). Each of these
groups has an average yearly pork production of 150,000 animals.
This allowed for the producers group to reinforce its range of activity and
cover the
totality of the departments of Côtes d’Armor, Ille-et-Vilaine, Morbihan, Mayenne,
as well as a part of the departments of La Manche and the Loire Valley.
Today, groups of the producers are located in Montfort sur Meu (35) -
Gorron (53) - Pontivy (56) - Pleyben (29) - Vitré (35)
Since 1990 the most notable periods at COOPERL were:
• Continuation of curing development.
• June 1992, opening of a CALIPRO store in LAMBALLE (in building formerly
owned by SAMI) and creation of SA SOCOBATI, materials negotiator,
subsidiary of COOPERL.
• S.A. SOCOBATI had 90 employees at the end of 1999.
Stores are located in Lamballe - Lanvollon - Gorron - Montfort/Meu - Pontivy
and, in the near future, Pleyben.
• June 1992, construction of a cutting facility in the industrial zone of Bellevue
in Guingamp.
This facility has 30 employees that do primarily deboning.
• December 1992, opening of a distribution centre and packaging workshop in
CHASSIEU near Lyon (Rhône). These activities were transferred in July of 1993
to St Jean de Soudain near Tour du Pin (Isère) where COOPERL acquired
a larger and more functional production centre. In 1998 there were 35 permanent
employees at this site.
• 1 January 1992 was the date of the creation of the COOPERL HUNAUDAYE
Group, both exploiting the industrial sites of the two cooperatives (COOPERL
and HUNAUDAYE at Plestan).
